Materials that don't exist
Furniture that's the wrong scale
Windows that magically moved
Structural changes that aren't possible
AI is exceptionally confident about things it has absolutely no intention of figuring out how to build.
That's where professional design comes in.
Inspiration Isn't the Same as Design
This is one of the most important things homeowners should understand about AI interior design.
A picture is not a design plan.
Interior design involves much more than creating something visually appealing.
A real design project may require:

Will AI Replace Interior Designers?
AI will probably change what interior designers do.
That's different from replacing them.
Designers once drafted everything by hand.

For some projects, absolutely.
If you're decorating a bedroom, rearranging furniture, exploring paint colors, or trying to get inspiration, AI can be a fantastic tool.
We actually encourage homeowners to use technology to explore what they like.
Save the images.
Experiment.
Bring those ideas to your designer.
They can become part of the conversation.
But the larger and more expensive your project becomes, the more important professional guidance becomes.
There's a significant difference between experimenting with throw pillows and making decisions about a $100,000 remodel.
The consequences of getting those decisions wrong are very different.
What About AI Interior Design Apps?
There are now countless tools that allow you to upload a photograph and instantly redesign a room.
They're fun.
They're fast.
And some of the results are genuinely impressive.
Use them for what they're good at:
Inspiration and visualization.
Just don't assume everything shown in the image is physically, financially, or structurally possible.
If you find an AI-generated design you love, show it to your designer.
Instead of saying:
“Build exactly this.”
Think of it as:
“This is the direction I love. How can we create this feeling in my actual home?”
That's a much more useful starting point.
