The Consultation — Lake Hazel Design

The Consultation,
and everything it starts

Before any concept is drawn or a single piece is sourced, we sit in your space, listen to how you live in it, and map out what's possible.

Before we meet

Complete your client questionnaire — a few minutes of questions about your space, your style, and how you actually live in it. It's what lets our time together go straight to the possibilities.

What happens in the room

We walk the space together

Not a sales pitch — a real conversation about how each room is used, what's not working, and what you've been putting off changing.

We scan and measure

Full space scans and precise measurements are taken on-site, becoming the foundation for every plan that follows.

We shape a direction

By the end, we've named a point of view for the space — the starting language every concept board will build from.

Please note The consultation fee is not credited toward the cost of your project, and budget isn't part of this conversation. Once we've narrowed your scope together, you'll receive a written proposal built specifically around it.

Choosing how we work together

After the consultation, we take what we learned and define your exact scope. Every proposal is then built from the phases your project actually needs — priced by the work involved, not handed to you as a flat package.

01

Pre-Design

Field measure and existing conditions — the accurate baseline everything else is built on.

02

Design Development

Selections, floor plans, elevations, and renderings, refined together until the concept is approved.

03

Construction Documents

Permit-ready drawings and technical documentation, for projects involving renovation or remodel work.

04

Construction Support

Contractor meetings, site visits, and coordination that protect the design intent through the build.

05

Furnishings

Every piece researched, evaluated, and specified through our trade-only vendor network.

06

Procurement

Ordering, tracking, and receiving coordination, from purchase order to your door.

07

Installation

White-glove delivery and styling — the moment it all comes together.

Your written proposal draws only from the phases your project needs — a full remodel touches all seven; a single room may only need two or three.

Inside a full design project

For a Custom Design & PM engagement, here is exactly what happens between our first sketch and your final walkthrough.

1
Direction

Mood board

We translate our consultation conversation into an initial visual direction — the language the rest of the project speaks.

2
Documentation

Site visit & as-built drawing

A dedicated visit confirms every dimension, and your space is drafted in AutoCAD as it exists today — the accurate baseline everything else is built on.

3
Planning

Floor plan

Layout options are drawn to scale, so we can test furniture placement, traffic flow, and function before anything is purchased.

4
Design

Concept boards

Full concepts come together — finishes, furnishings, and materials presented as a cohesive story for your approval.

5
Sourcing

Furnishing sourcing & spec sheet

Every approved piece is sourced through trade-only vendors and logged to a detailed spec sheet — the record of exactly what's being purchased and why.

6
Procurement

Purchase orders

Orders are placed one vendor and one client per PO, each clearly sidemarked, so nothing gets crossed or lost along the way.

7
Tracking

Order tracking

Every order is monitored through delivery, so you always know where things stand without having to ask.

8
Arrival

White-glove delivery

Furnishings arrive, are inspected, and are placed in your home — styled and ready, not left in boxes for you to manage.

9
Close-out

Final invoice

A clear, itemized final invoice closes the project — no surprises, matched line for line to the spec sheet you approved.

A general idea of investment

This isn't a quote — it's a way to see how scope and investment tend to relate, built from our own pricing framework. Your real proposal is written after your consultation, once we've defined your project precisely.
