About
Us
Thank you for choosing Lake Hazel Design.
Designing your home is a collaborative process, and we are honored to be part of creating a space that reflects your lifestyle, personality, and goals.
This guide outlines how our process works, what you can expect from us, and what we will need from you to keep your project moving smoothly.
Please save this packet for future reference throughout your project.
Our Mission
To create beautiful, functional spaces while making the design process as organized, enjoyable, and stress-free as possible.
Every project is unique, and thoughtful design takes time. We focus on making intentional decisions that lead to a finished result you will love for years to come.
Setting Expectations
"Interior design is not an overnight process. The most successful projects happen when we trust the process."
Many clients see beautiful completed rooms on social media and assume those projects happened quickly.
What is often unseen are the weeks or months spent planning, sourcing, ordering, coordinating, revising, and installing.
Our job is to guide you through every step — keeping you informed, protected, and excited along the way.
01
Discovery &
Consultation
Every great space begins with listening. In this first phase we take time to deeply understand your goals, aesthetic preferences, how you live in your home, and what success looks like for you.
Deliverables: Consultation notes, initial recommendations, project roadmap, and budget guidance.
During this phase we
- Learn about your goals
- Discuss budget expectations
- Review functionality needs
- Gather inspiration
- Take measurements (if applicable)
- Establish project priorities
Services may include
- Space planning
- Furniture layouts
- Finish selections
- Material recommendations
- Paint palettes
- Lighting recommendations
- Mood boards
- Product sourcing
02
Design
Development
This is where the creative work begins. We evaluate every product, finish, and material against your aesthetic direction, lifestyle, and budget — making thoughtful selections that cohesively express your vision.
This phase often takes the longest because every element is being carefully curated.
03
Presentation &
Revisions
Once designs are prepared, we present our recommendations and gather your feedback. This is a collaborative moment — your input shapes the final direction.
Note: Revisions beyond your package scope may incur additional fees. Significant changes after approvals may affect timelines.
What happens here
- Design boards are presented
- Your feedback is gathered
- Revisions are incorporated
- Final selections are approved
04
Procurement &
Ordering
Once selections are approved, we manage the ordering, vendor coordination, lead time monitoring, and delivery tracking on your behalf.
Many items are manufactured specifically for your project. Lead times are estimates and may be affected by factors outside our control.
Lead times may be affected by
- Manufacturer delays
- Shipping delays
- Backorders
- Weather events
- Vendor issues
05
Installation &
Styling
Once products arrive, we coordinate deliveries, schedule installation, and handle all the finishing styling details that bring a space from "assembled" to truly complete.
This is where your project comes to life.
In this final phase
- Deliveries are coordinated
- Installation is scheduled
- Styling details are completed
- Final walk-through is conducted
- Project is revealed

Preferred Channels
- Client Portal (DesignFiles)
- Scheduled Meetings
Our client portal is the central hub for your project — where approvals, documents, and communications are organized and archived for easy reference.
Design Hours
Many of our services are provided in blocks of design hours. Even when work is not visibly occurring in your home, our team is often actively working behind the scenes.
Project communication, coordination, and management are part of the design process and require dedicated professional time — these hours are reflected in your billing accordingly.
12Client Responsibilities
To keep projects moving efficiently, clients agree to:
- Respond promptly to questions
- Provide timely approvals
- Review presentations thoroughly
- Communicate changes as early as possible
- Honor agreed-upon budgets
- Attend scheduled meetings
Delays in approvals or decision-making may impact project timelines.
13Budget & Sourcing
Budget Expectations
Every budget has limits. Our role is to help maximize value while creating the best possible outcome within your investment level. If requested products exceed the established budget, additional recommendations may be necessary — we encourage flexibility where appropriate.
Sourcing & Product Selections
Our recommendations are curated specifically for your project. Availability can change quickly — selections may sell out, become discontinued, or increase in price without notice.
Products may include:
Construction & Photography
Working with Contractors
While we collaborate closely with contractors and trades, construction schedules are ultimately managed by the contractor. Our role is to support design execution and advocate for the intended design vision.
We are not responsible for:
- Contractor performance
- Labor quality
- Construction delays
- Permit issues
- Material installation errors
Social Media & Photography
We love celebrating completed projects. Unless otherwise agreed upon, Lake Hazel Design reserves the right to photograph completed work and use images for portfolio, social media, marketing, and awards submissions.
Frequently
Asked Questions
Why is design taking longer than I expected?
Most projects require extensive planning, sourcing, coordination, approvals, and ordering before visible progress occurs. Thoughtful design prevents costly mistakes later — the invisible work upfront is what creates a seamless result.
Why do I need to approve selections quickly?
Availability and pricing change frequently. Delays can result in discontinued products, longer lead times, or increased costs. Prompt approvals protect your investment and keep the project on track.
Why am I being billed for communication?
Project communication, coordination, and management are part of the design process and require dedicated professional time. These activities are reflected in your design hours.
Can I purchase items myself?
This depends on your package and project structure. Please discuss this with your designer — in most cases, coordinated purchasing ensures quality, warranty coverage, and proper installation.
What if I change my mind?
Changes are a normal part of the design process. However, major revisions after approvals may affect timelines, budgets, and product availability. The earlier you communicate a change, the more options we have.
